Locale Magazine

I interviewed fashion entrepreneur Danielle Nagel on her recent interior design projects for the Escape Section of Locale Magazine.

“The power of color is a strength that Nagel knows how to wield in fashion, art and design. Featuring bold colors in every room, the apartment is emblematic of Nagel’s identifiable signature style - fearless, feminine and uplifting.”

The story appeared online and in print.

Palm Springs Life Magazine

In advance of the announcement, I wrote a story reporting on the two potential locations of the Aluminaire House, a legendary project by architect Albert Frey. For the story, I interviewed Alan Hess, notable architect and historian, and Mark Davis, treasurer and board director of Modernism Week.

“Once the Aluminaire is reassembled at its new location, the house will be on view to the public. Davis emphasized the importance of its accessibility to local residents and visitors alike: “It will be extraordinarily meaningful for the city and for our architectural heritage tourism – for the world to be able to come see it.”

Cree House Reimagined

Palm Springs Life

In advance of Modernism Week, I wrote a story previewing The Cree House, originally designed by notable architect Albert Frey.

“Indeed, a sense of play comes to life through the Herman Miller® furnishings selected for the interiors. In white ash wood, the curvy Eames lounge chair takes residence in the living room, aside the Noguchi accent table in oak. Sandy brown rocks, visible through the home’s expansive windows, set a natural backdrop for a light, airy interior motif accented by dark walnut tones.”

Gratitude Beverly Hills

LOCALE Magazine

I spoke with Executive Chef Dreux Ellis of Gratitude Beverly Hills to report on the new menu additions and elevated look of the restaurant’s interiors.

“Those looking in Beverly Hills will inevitably seek a sophisticated experience, which Gratitude aims to provide.

Candles are placed like raindrops throughout the space, pitter-pattering a warm flicker that complements the chattering hum from restaurant-goers.

An eye-opening white marble bar, bronze accents, tiny succulents in terracotta pots and a dark chevron wood floor all deepen the crescendo of the dining experience.”

Tradition with a Twist

LOCALE Magazine

For LOCALE’s foodie section, I contributed a piece on B.S. Taqueria, one of DTLA’s trendiest Mexican restaurants.

“Exposed lightbulbs peek out from a ceiling of vines, matching walls painted with a rowdy mural of cacti and other untamed vegetation. Bold colors, serape-patterned pillows and hand-painted pottery make the rest of the interior flow seamlessly.

Look up and you’ll find a collection of molinillos, traditional wooden whisks used to make hot chocolate, hanging from the ceiling.”
